Class Descriptions:

Basic Business Center – HCE

Length: 8 hours (1 days)

Prerequisite(s): None

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $1500 US + ($100 Per Person)

Course Description: This course serves as an orientation and basic training on Business Center- Heavy Construction Edition, which provides one interface for modeling and data management. This course is classroom-based. Students will be provided a Certificate upon completion of this class.

Course Objectives:

  • Setup user interface
  • Import different data types
  • View basic surface modeling features
  • View data
  • Calculate earthwork volumes
  • Create, edit, and manage SCS sites, designs, and work orders

Advanced Business Center – Heavy Construction Edition

Length: 24 hours (3 days)

Prerequisite(s): Basic Business Center Class

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $2500 US + ($100 Per Person)

Course Description:  This course serves as advanced training on Business Center- Heavy Construction Edition, which provides one interface for modeling and data management. This course is classroom-based. Students will be tested by exam and provided a Certificate upon completion of this class.

Course Objectives:

  • Create, edit, and manage SCS sites, designs, and work orders
  • Create Alignments
  • Create Roadway Corridors
  • Create Surfaces and Contours
  • Generate quantities from corridors
  • Perform a Takeoff using the Takeoff Module
  • Calculate earthwork volumes
  • Overview and setup of Office Synchronizer

Basic Construction Surveying

Length: 16 hours (2 days)

Prerequisite(s): None

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $2000 US + ($50 Per Person)

Course Description:  This class is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of the technology used in modern site and highway construction and the desire to become a construction technology professional. The students will be taught how to use various pieces of construction surveying equipment and what the proper techniques and procedures are to ensure that they are using the equipment properly. Students will also learn the industry terminology and the proper use and care of an automatic levels, grade lasers, and layout gear.  Students will be provided a Certificate upon completion of this class.

Course Objectives:

  • Setup and use survey grade levels
  • Perform an elevation “loop” closure
  • Demonstrate the proper care and use of the survey level
  • Prepare field notes as required for an elevation loop and closure
  • Setup and use a Total Station for construction layout
  • Intro into SCS900 Site Software

SCS900 Basic Training

Length: 8 hours (1 day)

Prerequisite(s): Experience with general site construction and grade checking is recommended.

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $1500 US + ($100 Per Person)

Course Description: This course provides instruction in the operation of SCS900 software using GPS and Total Stations with a Windows based mobile computer such as a Trimble TSC3 and is intended for construction contractor field employees involved in grading, stakeout, topographic and volume surveys. This class includes an introduction of the Business Center software along with how to transfer and create machine and data collector files. This is an abbreviated version of the Certified Class designed to get a Contractor up and running quickly.  Students will be provided a Certificate upon completion of this class.

Target Audience: The target audience for this program are site supervisors responsible for managing onsite data to and from the machines and field crews that are new to the SCS900 Software and Business Center- HCE.

Learning Objectives:

  • Measure site features and surfaces
  • Create and Transfer Data collector files
  • Stake out points, lines, roads, and surfaces

Some of the information included in this class will be:

  • Understand GPS (RTK) fundamentals
  • Review the components of the system
  • Setup a GPS base station
  • Setup a GPS rover
  • Setup a Total Station
  • Understand file and folder structures
  • Create sites and work orders
  • Perform a site calibration

Trimble SCS900 Training Certified

Length: 16 hours (2 days)

Prerequisite(s): Experience with general site construction and grade checking is recommended.

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $2000 US + ($100 Per Person)

Prerequisite(s): Experience with Grading Equipment Operation

Student Maximum: 10

Course Cost: $2000 US + ($100 Per Person)

Course Description: This course provides instruction in the operation of GCS900 software using GPS. This class is ideal for grading equipment operators and supervisors that want to increase their knowledge of the GCS900 Machine Control Systems. An introduction of the Business Center software is presented with how to transfer and create machine files. Students will be tested by exam and provided a Certificate upon completion of this class.

Target Audience: The target audience for this program are site supervisors and operators responsible for managing and operating onsite data to and from the machines

Learning Objectives:

  • CB 4x0 Basics and Navigation
  • Transfer machine files

Some of the information included in this class will be:

  • Identify the GCS900 Components
  • Maintenance of Technology Equipment
  • Perform Pre-Work Operations
  • Understand Connectivity Settings

Customer Cancellation Policy

In the event a student or company must cancel their class reservation, we kindly request a week notice. If proper notice is not given within one week, the company will be assessed a no-show fee of $500 (one-time charge, not per day). If the class is cancelled due to weather implications or instructor illness, no fees are assessed.
